“Science and technology, not government, will solve the biggest
challenges facing our society. Math and science are the new
foundational literacy for everyone.”

The climb is steep and time is fleeting. If American students are to be inspired to excel in math and science, to distinguish themselves and their country, to make the achievements the future requires, and to reclaim our leadership position in the global economy, the results must be dramatic, and soon.
Within five years, NMSI seeks to have training and incentive programs in 150 school districts in 20 states, and UTeach-type programs underway on more than 50 college and university campuses nationwide.
The demand is out there and rising. Fifty-two institutions applied for the first 13 grants to initiate UTeach-type programs, and 28 state-affiliated organizations applied for six grants to initiate AP programs.
